FAQs
Sorry, you’re located where?
We don’t have a street-front window, so you might be confused about where we are. The short answer? Right underneath our sister business, Goods for Cooks in the the Uptown Plaza building in downtown Bloomington. The easiest way to access our suite, 014, is to use the alley entrance which is located between JL Waters and The Peach Cobbler Factory. If you enter in the main building doors which face the courthouse, find the stairs and head down. Suite 014, people!
When are you open?
There aren’t any standard hours associated with the business at this time, but August will feature our very first classes. Check out our calendar to see what and when we’re hosting this month.
I think I’d make a great class instructor. Who do I talk to?
The current best way to learn more about leading classes at In the Kitchen is to reach out to the Kitchen Coordinator, Ava Collins, via the contact page located on the website header.
What classes are offered?
Umm, the fun kind? Seriously though, we offer all sorts of classes! As we’re in the baby stages of development, we’re not totally sure what kinds of classes will be held most repeatedly. It depends on the feedback we get. We intend to focus on baking, hosting tips and tricks, wine education, methods for elevating flavor, knife skills and even hands-off classes like culinary history or the impact of eating local.
Can I audit a class?
We’re so glad you’re interested in our classes! However, at this time we aren’t offering an option to audit classes. If you’d like to be present for a class, please sign up on the registration tab. Occasional exceptions to this rule can and will be enforced.
Who’s involved?
Owners George Huntington and Ava Collins. You might even see them at Goods for Cooks sometime, since George co-owns Goods for Cooks with his sister Samantha Eibling, and Ava is a long-time staff member!
Will you host my private event?
Yes! We anticipate hosting a limited number of private events, including birthday parties, engagement celebrations, bridal showers, private wine tastings, etc. Please see the hosting tab located on the website header.
What’s your cancelation policy?
Life happens. If you can no longer attend class, we’ll do our best to get you rescheduled. Cancelation more than 24 hours in advance qualifies for a refund or gift certificate in the amount spent. Cancelation within 24 hours of class will be eligible for a gift certificate only.
